Transient is an ongoing performance/moving image project taking place in various landscapes around the world. By walking towards the camera lens, being cut through by it as if the camera eye (the spectator’s eyes) is a ghost-like existence without a physical body(filmed by a micro-cam). Lee plays with the spectators’ gaze and anticipation over the passage of time, to examine encounters, our racial and gender appearances, and how those external conditions affect us in terms of bias and discrimination. The work is trying to talk about uniformity in essence of human being, just like the moment when the audience follows the camera almost brutally penetrate through the artist’s body, only to discover an utterly strange yet indistinguishable bag of flesh that makes all of us.
